Downtown Joe's: knockout. Jerry's Pizza still standing as we discover two murders occured downtown in one night - by N.L. Belardes

What will happen to Jerry’s Pizza now that the Spotlight Theatre chef is gone, violently murdered by angry punks? Downtown Joes just closed due to death threats from a volatile crowd that wants justice. Now that Jerry’s kids, those angry punks who don’t back down from fights have committed a murder, what will happen to Jerry's, that longstanding Pizza Joint/Rock and Roll venue? When first reported, I assumed this was just another punk fight turned bloody and reported as such. But now look what has happened. There has been so much media attention on the Sepeda murder that there will surely be such attention on the Spotlight chef murder which occured just a block away. The angry punks have stepped over the line. If there was ever a time to turn the other way, to walk away, that would have been the time. But that’s hindsight. These angry punks are confrontational and give fun mainstream punks a bad name... Murder has been committed and now the scene is wondering what will happen to Jerry’s Pizza, although there is a major difference between the two murders. Sources indicate the fight started just outside of Jerry’s Pizza. Or did it? One has to wonder how much anger brews in these kids from the bowels of Jerry's Pizza. Have you not read my articles on Gigantic Gets Intimidated, the Boycott, The Nate Berg Story, The Rock and Roll Farm and such? There are angry punks storming from the sewage drains of the downtown pizzeria, folks! There are many details that need to come out of this case. Did the fight actually start indoors? Was this purely a tragic disturbance that had nothing to do with Jerry’s Pizza and more with a scene of isolated youth whose parents don’t seem to care where they go at night? Does this have to do with Jerry's Pizza being a haven for the angriest most self-loathing street punks in town? I heard Kelly of the Filthies say the other day, "Years ago if you got in a street fight it was just fists, that was it. You fought and it ended. These days these angry punk kids carry knives, guns, chains with locks on them..."

I’ve been writing in the weeks leading up to the Jerry’s kids murder about the Rock and Roll Farm and troubled youth. The materialization of such an incident and murder is a sure sign that Jerry’s Kids (the angry downtown punks) are far more angry and in need of attention than ever before realized.

As stated before, the Indie scene is growing... it's exploding in talent and energy... Hopefully all this negative attention will create a new equilibrium, new venues, a new era... a new respect for life...
