The Niche is here! - by N.L. Belardes

When I was asked recently to be a part of Niche, I jumped at the chance. How many people in Bakersfield are putting together zines for the people? I mean artistic endeavors, not magazines simply for the sake of selling ads. Well there aren't many. How many people are throwing down the art and music news? Not many. But is there a scene that needs to be heard? You know it. Hell, Bakersfield.com noticed. And they even said, "Now sonny, if you don't start talking the news through us, we're all going to let Kenny Filthy beat you with his grandpappy cane!" How can I not listen? They're the big bad guys in my novel! Seriously, I did contribute to Niche magazine, a venture by a local Bakersfield High School artist who simply wants to create... Enter Marah Jackson. This girl has a big dose of creative energy, so she put together a hipster zine and a site for angry counterculture valley youth to peruse... You can find her banner on my site... as long as she creates, she deserves the kudos. And don't forget to contribute. She needs good material from local artists. I know I will write an exclusive story for her next edition...
