Rumorville: Freakfest moved out of Kern County, angry response to The Berg Story - by N.L. Belardes
What is this? Rumors are flying. Freakfest booted to the Southland? There are even Berg rumors that I won't repeat here. Although I heard today that Mr. Berg will go out fighting! One musician was pointed to a large knife in a vehicle. Was Berg joking? I hope so. That's scary. So much press, such a burgeoning scene. Drama, conflict, black cowboy hats, sherriffs and posses. DeNiro. What would DeNiro say? Chris of Ridikule was a bit upset the other night too, "I don't like being ignored!" he said. "I am done with..." with what, Chris? Dare I repeat it? And then there is the Filthies. I read this post Saturday morning:
For weeks, I've been asked the same question. Have you heard whats up at Jerry's pizza? Well, yes we have. Then comes the flurry of questions. Are you guys gonna play there again? Are you boycotting jerrys? Are you, are you? The answer is, we dont ever play there and if you're a fan of our group, you should know this! Our reasons for not playing Jerry's are not because of whats happening at the present time, but rather our experience from playing there before. We just can't draw a good sized crowd at Jerry's. It's not our "thing" and we tried a couple of times and it didn't work for us. Example. We can drive to San Fran and play, enjoy ourselves, play to a large crowd, sell a lot of shirts and CD's, get paid very well and come home. We play Jerry's, we play to a bunch of people who stand outside and smoke, make no money and never sell anything because, everyone knows that Jerry's kids don't have any money or they would be inside the venue. Out of town shows are the only shows we use booking. Here in town, why would we need someone to set up a show for us, were here, we can do it ourselves. Plus, we have a hard time giving our hard earned performance money to a "non musician" when all they do is make a flyer and stand around a bother you before you play. It's very simple. With so many venues in California, you really don't need to talk to a promoter. Talk to the club manager or owner and cut them in. Thats what we do. If they say,"we use a promoter" then move on to the next venue until you book your shit. When the group first started, we played Lucky's a lot. The first few times went very well and they sold out of drinks. So, we started taking the door and even had our own doorman making sure the Lucky's doorman was being honest. How much can a self booked band make on a good night? Well, if you flyer hard, tell everyone you know to come and most of all make sure everyone has a REALLY good time, with our own door guy we would earn $1,500 dollars on average. If we take 10% of the bar, sell our shit and draw heavy, we earn 2 to $3,000 dollars and we don't have to "share." So, my answer is, we don't play there because it smells like piss, none of our fans will enter the place, you have to carry your shit down some old ass scary stairs, you get a ticket for parking anywhere out front, they book 20 million bands at a time, the pizza sauce has too much salt, they have no concept of time slots, there is no sound system and if we took ours, the weight would collapse the stairs as we went down them, it really smells like piss really bad and it stinks like piss. But the main reason is, if we played Jerry's, we would just be wasting ours and Nates time and we know this, so we just don't play there. Now the whole baseball bat thing, I have no idea, so stop asking. But, if there is a baseball bat swinging maniac, feel free to visit us at one of our shows. I'm sure that bat will fit nicely up your ass.

I finally had enough!!!!!!! I think every band in Bako needs to tell that loser punk ass bitch from jerry's pizza (Nate) he's about to get beat up by all of us what a loser
The music scene has gone live on Bakersfield.com. All eyes are on Bakersfield. There's controversy and a tragic murder. The characters in our story will be studied and people will say, "What is this scene all about? Who are the bands? Who are the people?" So many great characters: the good cops, the bad cops, the bad good cops, the bad bad cops, the hipsters, the screamos, the rural rock punksters, the punks, the angry punk youth, the jailed punks, the Latino alt scene, the metal, the Quiet is the new loud, the cool cats, the wastoids, the academics, the pretentious, the scene is here... Where will it go?
Stay tuned...
