Inga Barks Revealed/A benefit for HIV/AIDS - By N.L. Belardes
You never know the personal reasons why people support AIDS/HIV benefits. Maybe someone you knew passed on from the disease. Maybe you have HIV yourself... And so you know it's important to support others. The AIDS walk was for an overall cause... Shantell and Three Chord Whore, the dark angels of post-grunge angst shouted out their music to a crowd beneath the delightful shade at Beach Park. Out in the sun people got hot from the sudden summer weather. But they remembered the millions with the disease along with those not here anymore, like Shantell's friend, Katherine, a lost blue-eyed soul.
I sat and listened to a few tunes by From Ritual to Romance. I had simply been passing by the park on my way to see Ryan Bright from Seven to the Right. He works in a funky sword shop where you can purchase weapons by the bucketloads: swordsonline.com
It is so kind that people can donate their time. Forget that Inga Barks slammed the AIDS walk, laying down lines like "drag queens" and "Three Chord Whores". When I listen to old Lori Ingram from South High trying to act like a political conscience raiser ala the Fox News bantering style, I just laugh. Here's the girl who stole my U2 'A Celebration' pin in high school; and she was a loud-mouthed know it all then. More often than not she's just a typical talking head behind a microphone, screeching out her beliefs in the mostly conservative Southern Central Valley to try to get high ratings... I'm just a moderate, not liberal, not overtly conservative; the HIPS might even call me a war monger... I did try listening to Inga bark a few times, but figured I could get such howling from the Discovery Channel. As a historian I learned a long time ago that such flighty commentators don't dig as far into the American political consciousness as most people would like...

Wow. 3 chord whores? Drag queens? Preach on Inga! It's time the silent majority found a voice!
