Danielle Belton talks shop over Kenny Mount rant - By N.L. Belardes

Looks like Kenny's in trouble again. Just got this email from the Bakersfield Californian entertainment writer, Danielle Belton. She's replying to his 'motor' mouth Eye Street blog from a few days ago...

You know, if this gets any worse I'm having them put on the gloves. Only my money's on Danielle. All she's gotta do is duck her head and step in. Once that hair gets in Kenny's face, it's all over... all she has to do is swing away... he won't know what hit him.

Read on:

Read Kenny's rant. Can't blame him, but truly, this is a one-woman-afro
operation. I need local bands to contact me because I'm swamped. All
the stories he complained about I wrote, plus WOTS, plus a bar review and
a Sunday cover that week. That means I wrote about, I don't know, seven
stories, which should prove that I'm just a little overworked.

And I've done written about local bands, done band profiles and album
reviews: The Had and Been, Shamiq From 212, Erosadis, Sick Trigger, Blue
Planet, Umbriel, Loveday (then Printed In Slovenia), 5 o'clock Angel,
Seed, Calico Sunset, Dr. BLT, The Cobbs, Near Miss Mallet, Monty Byrom,
The Soulsteppers, The Dusk Devils, Vendetta Red, The Dalloways, Kris
Tiner, the MTKJ Quartet, Soulajar, Tony O'Brien and Black Tie Jazztet,
Bunky Spurling and more. So maybe he just read last Thursday's paper
only. WOTS is mostly local bands and theater when I get info from the bands
and theaters. I'm here and I've been writing about local folks.

But get the word out that we want bands to e-mail us directly about
their shows or to just give me a call if they want a profile. I still
write band profiles about local bands, but I don't have the time to search
these folks out. Anyway, you can post my e-mail and work number -
dbelton@bakersfield.com and 395-7270. To get in the calendar, e-mail
Sheryl Truitt at struitt@bakersfield.com. There's no conspiracy. Just a
very small entertainment staff of one.
