Myndsick infects the crowd at the Rabobank Arena - By N.L. Belardes

In Hockey 101 you learn to skate and be aggressive. You take it to your opponent and that’s just what Myndsick and the Condors did at the Rabobank Arena last Saturday night in front of 6000+ fans.

I showed up just after my book release show and found Simon and the rest of Myndsick already jamming to a large crowd in front of the Condors Arena. I immediately snapped a few photos. Simon paused for a moment and tried to get me to go onstage. But this was Myndsick’s moment at the Rabobank and I wouldn’t have it. I just wanted to enjoy the tunes…

Inside the Arena the game was close. The first period ended in a 1-1 tie with Captain Sean Venedam on his way toward a hat trick for the evening. Myndsick had already set up with the help of local legend Marc DeLeon from the band American Standard. They were ready to go and did, and I was proud to be on-hand...

“Born to Fight” is one of those songs that infects you as you listen. It’s a raging punk anthem to the rough sport of hockey and is the kind of song any hockey player would listen to while getting ready for the challenge of the big game. With an end like, “Step up, punk!” I couldn’t help but cheer along with the 6,083 fans in the arena, all ready for band night #2 from the forthcoming CD, Growing Up Fighting: Bakersfield Hockey Vol. 1.
