Fun in the nlbelardes.com comment zone - By N.L. Belardes

Just got this fun ANONYMOUS comment that was meant for the last post, "bakersfield bob whereabouts revealed... sorta...":

I really don't think that Ms. Belton's personal business has anything to do with you or your blog. Maybe it's time to get over your Jr. High grudge.

I loved this comment so much I thought it blog worthy. It has pizzazz.

So, Bakersfield Bob has fans who read my site? Are there closet Californian readers out there who sneak my site onto their desktop and then comment?

Just why would a Belton fan be on nlbelardes.com?

Hmmm...

The power of the blog speaks again. Word gets around.

By the way, if the average citizen's business is the business of the news, then the business of the news is the business of this blog... As for grudges: I only speak for what is fair, and Belton's lies were never fair. If I have a 7th grade grudge, that would make the Californian equal to what reading grade level...?

And if you don't like my blog, go read the bathroom stalls at the Californian (4th grade comment)

I wish I were as poetic as Heath Dobbler.

Hang in there N.L.you still have plenty of time to hone your skills.

As far as these wheepy little cretins
(Belton supporters) go... screw em, not all is lost. I heard Miss Belton landed a sweet 9 to 5 spot as a marketing buff for Big 5. Seriously, I guess they figured her to be one hell of a spokesperson for their '06' snow boot and spring fashion lineup.

    N.L.,
You dont have to prove yourself to anyone. We all have critics, right? Anytime that you submit a subjective piece of art to the public, you have to expect to make friends and foes. Although Ms. Belton tends to be a foe, there is no need to endorse, nor cheer on the demise of her carrer and attack her social life. If you think you have lived up to your expectations with your new book, then just relax and let people give you credit, if credit is due. But why so much hostility over people who don't acknowledge your (self credited) "genuise"? I wrote the original post defending Ms. Belton, but not because I was attacking you. Other than the grudge you've been holding with her in the arts community, I had no idea what business her misfortune had to do with your website. You've always talked about this idiological sense of community among the artists and venues in Bakersfield, but I think your giving the worst example of community when you start to attack people on your site. You're a pretty good guy, don't give people reasons to think otherwise. (TOO PERSONAL TO BLOG?)

I didn't attack her social life... I think that's where you're wrong. I poked fun her articles, I poke fun at catching her in a lie (and defended not just me but other artists who she indicated were gumstick writers) and wondered, like many people why she has disappeared. She is the entertainment writer and people do wonder when people in the limelight suddenly are just gone with no explanation.

Attacking her social life would be like saying, "I saw her walking down the street with her friends and they were all dressed like bag ladies. And then I heard she was on medication and had a friend who saw her getting a prescription of extra-heavy duty Vitamin C from Rite-Aid... and then she was seen at a party, dressed like Baghdad Bob and making out with one of the Lords of Bakersfield..." That would be an attack on her social life. Other than just now joking about it, I have left her social life alone.

I have been entertaining on this site in a way that stands up for people who are wronged. I stood up for Gigantic Vintage, The KooKooNauts, the Downtown Scene, and for Kern County Writers. It's not just a 'me' issue.

If people take my defense of local writers as me being an asshole, or lacking community spirit, or just having a grudge, that's silly. Ask why people read the news, tabloids, magazines, E! Entertainment, et. al. I am tame compared to what a David Letterman parody of Belton would be.

    Sit back, have some fun.

And if others want to make fun of me too. Sounds good to me...
