The Filthies European tour hangs in the balance - By N.L. Belardes

The Filthies are set to invade Europe but have been hush hush about it. I'm breaking the silence. Forget the discount plots that mortician rocker Kenny 'Motor' Mount offered me. Forget the pack of bubble gum and tickets to the opera and a chance to be the first to piss in the dark shag corners of the new and improved Filthy Lair. He can have it all back. I'm spilling the beans. I spoke with Kenny Mount recently, asking him about the upcoming European tour that's sure to put Bakersfield into the realm of American punk gone rabid. They have new songs, new hairdos, and are set to invade like a reverse Benetton Beatles sweater--it's good both ways...

"Why do you want this European tour hush hush?"

"Because when it comes down to it the promoter might bail with the funds. I don't want that to get out. So don't tell anyone."

"What the hell?"

"It's true. This whole tour hangs in the balance. You have to have funding to pay for hotels, cheap wine, baguettes, and London dive-pub brews. And we're finding we may have to cancel. Can you imagine?"

"No way. You can't cancel out on your dreams. I read about Liverpool and that you're going to actually perform in one of my favorite dream venues. I read you're playing Finn Fields."

"Yeah. It's the shit. It's one of the world famous venues of European punk. The Norweigians explored the punk nuances of Hollywood and Great Britain and built a great world famous venue to match the dark streets of early punk."

The Irish feel of Norweigian Finn Fields

"You mean it smells like vomit?"

"Pretty much. There's a lot of boxing there too. The Norweigians beat the hell out of each other in their pubs. It's really amazing. But we're proud to be on our way."

Finn Fields is well known for friendly brawls
in a testament to a safer time than past razor blade days.
They even sell rubber razors and easy-to-use safety clips.

"If the money comes through."

"We could lose thousands on the deal, Nick."

"And no Finn Fields."

"Right."

"Ah, man, there's always Bakersfield. Maybe it will all come through."

Three cheers for Finn Fields and the Filthies!

I saw video from Finn Fields when Green Day played there during the World Soccer championships. There were mohawks mingling with little old Norwegian ladies with crumpet hair. Wild shit. Billie Joe Armstrong was wearing Euro colors and singing in Finnish, or was it Dutch, because he forgot what country he was in.
