Top secret newspaper information sent mistakenly to N.L. - By N.L. Belardes
To the concerned parties:
Don't worry those of you who are reading this. I didn't find the information newsworthy for nlbelardes.com. So your secret is still safe.
Contrary to what may be the paper's belief, I don't set out to destroy the paper or to ruin their business.
I will remind you what is unfair is a children's book about Buck Owen's in the paper, but not mine... what can a children's book tell us about Buck Owens that other histories haven't already told in great detail? That he ate breakfast cereal? And Bob Price just called my book redundant... he never read it when he wrote his two sentence blurb about me. Although I still thank him for the inspiration.
Now, Lords: Part Two. That's going to shake the very foundations of Bakersfield.

you're so funny!
top secret sent to you, that's funny. Keep up the good job Nick. BUMS is on hold, you know how it is when a punk boy runs a website. Tons of peeps are bitchin' at me. Now I know how you feel Nick. If I can only sit down without schooling and plant money trees, BUMS would become an amazing site. It won't be completely dead.
Just like you, I'm proud to do my part to help Bakersfield art, music, literature film, sports and theatre...
You can only do so much. You're a hard working student.
I read the book. POORLY WRITTEN page after page. My theory is that if the book is meant for children (and all the proceeds go to Bak. City Schools) then it should have been proof read by someone who has actually taken an English class. Read it, it's worth a good laugh, if now a lesson on how NOT to use commas.
That's just sad. It makes the media look really bad in the eyes of my readers who know there are quality local writers, plays, theatre, music, art out there who create on a wide range of topics that aren't just Buck related...
my talented family member drew the buck owens book for comp (typical school district - tighter than squeaky shoes). she's hoping it leads to more kids' books offers, and she sure deserves it. she had a hard time drawing it, though, because of having to look at mr o's face constantly. he and his people are familiar to my family from way back, like they are to many many around here. not good memories, but i learned a lot during that time.... family member persevered, however, brave thing, and the book looks good, despite the subject. she has an obsessive attention to line that my short attention span prohibits. in his youth, though, b.o. was a cool looking guy, i think. a blonde indian. sort of dashing. what's happened to him in his old age, i think, is evil taking over. not that he hasn't done his good. but the aging face reveals lot of truth about the soul's condition. - from blink blank
