Bakersfield house fire on San Emidio Street after power turns on - By N.L. Belardes

Moments after the power was restored to some of the 47,000 customers of P,G & E a fire broke out at a home on San Emidio Street in Bakersfield, California. I was on my way to the Condors-Falcons when smoke began pouring above the Oleander line of houses in the area of the Fritts mansion.

We quickly headed to the scene to see smoke billowing near an elementary school on San Emidio. I jumped out of a car with Matildakay and ran to the scene, taking pictures of the fire as people ran around the house. Right away a sherriff pulled up as several people came back around the side of the house. One man was prevented from going back inside. Next door neighbor, Adam Cervantes said he kicked down a fence to help an old lady out of the house...

That was freaky... I've never seen a house on fire before.

Amazing photos! My mother lives right around the corner from there. I love that I have this connection with home now...I don't feel so far away.
