N.L. searching for Filipino farm workers, Filipino World War Two veterans, and knowledge of Agbayani Village for novel - By N.L. Belardes
Many of you know I recently wrote the coming of age Asian-American short story, Pinay. I asked for responses and I got a lot of them about whether people would want to read more of the story in a book length work.

chingpea is of Filipino-Chinese descent...
I’ve begun my research and you can help. I’m looking for people in these areas who would be willing to be interviewed:
If you know anyone of Filipino descent who was a farm worker, or who worked with Asian farm workers in the Delano area prior to 1993.
I’m also looking for people/photos/stories who had relatives who hung out with the Filipinos who once lived in Agbayani Village on 40 Acres.
I’m also looking for Filipinos who have relatives existing or deceased who fought in World War Two in the New Philippine Scouts, or in anti-Japanese Guerilla units, or who experienced World War Two in the Philippines. Old letters of correspondence and photos would be very helpful.
If you know any interested parties, please contact me at nl@nlbelardes.com.
This work is a work of fiction, but would be a historically important work out of the Central Valley as there are few novels on such topics, if any, out of the area. Feel free to forward any book titles to the above email address.

I don't know if you have access to the Californian's pay archive, but the first link on the page linked below leads to an article about Elena Calaustro, sort of the local Fil-Am community's elder stateswoman--you should definitely talk to her.

Was just looking for Asian American references and stumbled upon your site. Interesting short story and comments.
You should check out the following:

...and www.filipinasmag.com - under books and even some article archives if it's still posted. They talked about Agbayani Village not too long ago
Daly City, CA
Don't know if this website would be much help, but you could actually find some people who would be willing to help: http://www.thefilipino.com/cali.html
Good luck! BTW, your model is beautiful.
