Banning the trash - By N.L. Belardes
Ever so rarely I get hate mail. Lately I've banned some anonymous reader (probably in the schleprock camp) from posting attacks on my site. Controversy breeds freaks. You'd think they would just read someone else's blog to find the slant on the world that would tickle their fancy. Here's their latest. I'll spare you most of their poor writing and inflammatory prose that made me laugh, but would have just riled up readers.
Apparently I am a hateful racist according to this person who I asked not to be anonymous. Check out their cryptic bit about truth and secrets:
I can understand your want for personal information. It makes it easier to deflect attention away from the point for your classic personal attacks. I did a point by point disection of your BS and you hid it from your folloers. Just call it "hate" and "racism", nick. The truth will be our little secret.
No secrets other than I'm not going to post attacks on me on my own site.
I'll let this one slip by for laughter's sake.
Care to comment, anyone? At least on the poor spelling... goodness, use spellcheck! I'm guilty of typos, but this is ridiculous!
My point really is this: I will delete comments I feel aren't suitable to the website.

It isn't like Nick doesn't know how to take a hit. He does. It's unfortunate some people insist on being stupid about it. Make comments productive people! (or at the very least show a little humor) :D

wtf?! everyone has an opinion, but why not say your opinion with pride and dignity by sticking your name to it? geez... and how about the education? no wonder they can't communicate their true feelings with identity... they can't even spell!

But so is the Wall Street Journal. And the Heyday Books title, Blithe Tomato I just finished reading. But, Howie, at least we try to eradicate typos. I know. You're picking on me because of comments back during those crazy N.L./Howard Owens battle days... At least we weren't hateful like the comments I didn't post. The worst you claimed about me was I was "bitching"... that was harsh, but not hateful.
But the Californian never has typos... heh.
Believe it or not, some haters are blocked on bakersfield.com too, folks.
My point, people, is that this blog is my notice to you, that haters are not welcome here... There is an anti-Belardes site out there if you can find it. It's hilarious! Haters can do that all day.
Some people don't believe in me, and that's OK. But I get support from lots, and those folks matter because they believe in building the arts, helping artists, and expanding culture with events that are often free.
I didn't have jack shit to do with that one...

N.L. you got the reference ... not hateful, but petty. I haven't always agreed with you, but I think I've been respectful.
And I totally agree that you have an absolute right to ban whomever you want for whatever reason you want -- no apology or explanation necessary.
