Ex-Blackboard writer would like to rekindle The Blackboard Free Press as non-profit - By N.L. Belardes
Just got this message today from Richard Bramer. He's trying to get in touch with Jason Ricketts about rekindling The Blackboard Free Press:
Does anyone know how to get hold of Jason? His old
phone number seems to be cancelled. I seriously want
to try a run at The Blackboard as a not-for-profit
paper. I think that will make all the difference for
it's survivability.
However - I don't want to be the editor. Need Jason to
fill those shoes.
Send pertinent info to dirtyshirt@sbcglobal.net.
Thanks.

Well, that would be an interesting new twist to the alternative press developments in town as Random Times prepares to launch as well. Blackboard left a hole, and folks are already scrambling to fill it. Personally, I'd like to see more than one alt. press paper in town.
I think that would be great. I was just lamenting the other day that it's too bad the TBB could not at least remain up as an archive. Even though it was a printed publication and one hopes there is a solid collection somewhere (the library?), having it remain online retains an important source of Bakersfield history. Both bandwidth and storage are dirt cheap. I'm sure JR must have it all stored somewhere.
