Fiji again on the verge of coup - By N.L. Belardes
While I sit in Bakersfield and wonder about alt press shenanigans, there's a world around of larger issues both national and global. You can see my national concerns in my 9/11 piece: of mythmaking the events that transcend our lives.
And then there are people we know in various global reaches who deal with issues like international child kidnapping, or government coups.
Will there be bloodshed this time around in Fiji as the military's Commodore Bainimarama threatens on the mostly peaceful island? I hope not. While the Fijian president is in the hospital the Fijian military may be seeing this as the perfect opportunity for a coup. They're calling for the Prime Minister to step down. He's refusing.
