KCET Television Life & Times blog links to Prop 85 story on Paperback Writer - By N.L. Belardes

A big thanks to the KCET Life & Times blog out of Los Angeles for linking from Val Zavala's Reporter's Notes, “Prop. 85 – Abortion” to Paperback Writer.
From Katherine Diaz, Communications Manager/Blog Editor:
I am emailing you on behalf of KCET's Life & Times Blog (a Los Angeles
area PBS station). We have launched this site to foster a venue where
people can express their views and engage in a dynamic and educated
discussion about provocative issues of the day going on in Southern
California. We have posted a link to your website...
It’s funny how I stumbled onto that Prop 85 story in downtown Bakersfield. It’s how a lot of news is explored on Paperback Writer. I’m simply in the area. And I’m guessing a lot of news is accomplished that way. You see something out of the ordinary. You stop your car. You get out, and explore.
In this case it was a Prop 85 rally and counter rally. I snapped some photos, I talked to a few folks, and then many people talked online about their opinions in a hot and controversial Prop 85 debate… That means YOU helped provide people all over Southern California with a unique Central Valley perspective on issues.
Go to the KCET Life & Times blog for more resources on Proposition 85. There’s also a great recent blog entry on Ann Rynd that’s worth a read…
Don't forget to vote.

that's awesome! i'm glad you're getting recognition as a community journalist. they see you in such a positive light they link up to you. people around here should take note (ahem! so called haters...) and see you for the creative that you are.
Your Prop 85 blog actually got me and my husband talking about each others opinion and I was suprised and very impressed with what he had to say. We normally don't talk politics with each other AT ALL. But the blog comments really got to me. I found myself thinking and questioning how I really felt.
So I went home and asked him his opinion. In the end, he changed MY opinion on which way to vote. With ONE simple statement.
Hmmm I don't know whether to thank you or kick you. :) Either way, it sparked an interesting conversation so I guess I should thank you. THEN maybe when you're not looking I should kick you. But blame it on somebody else. :)
NL, you may only have four friends (ahem ha ha) but they're ALL over...
Way to go!
;)
Excellent Nick.
Good to see the invasion continues.
You are the real deal, dude!
It's also great to see the return of the backwards flip-off guy!
I provide what I think is an interesting novelist perspective of the world. I'm glad that you all participate and debate. The world likes to see how the Central Valley perceives issues...
Wow! That is really cool NL! I'm glad to see you getting the kind of recognition you deserve! You are an important voice in the Central Valley!
NL, you’re a local hero. Without your work, people south of us might continue to think that we are some little hillbilly town with bad air and only a country music scene. As time passes and certain people lose power, it will only get better. Thanks. Peace.

Pretty soon you'll own this town.
I would have to run for office to do that, Howie. Thanks for stopping by.
