UFO sighted over downtown Bakersfield? - By N.L. Belardes

Maybe tonight we'll see the Bakerfield lights. You know, kind of like the Phoenix Lights, only better...

What's strange to me is I just submitted a memoir and somewhat humorous piece to The Nervous Breakdown website. It hasn't been posted yet, though the title is "The Mexican cowboy burial grounds, Bakersfield aliens, crashed spaceships and the giant Haus burger".

The Nervous Breakdown enjoys long titles and currently only runs creative non-fiction pieces. You should check them out. Brad Listi started the site. He's an amazing guy, wrote a decent book Attention. Deficit. Disorder. and will be featured in my review of the Noveltown mixer.

This morning I received an interesting email from Bryan Tebow. He was in downtown Bakersfield and took a photo of an object that he claims flew above the Chester and Truxton area.

He first wrote:

Hey I saw these flying over Bakersfield, took some pictures with my
phone. Wonder if anyone else sighted them.

Right away I was skeptical. I mean, come on, sure I have been researching even Ronald Regan seeing a UFO over Bakersfield. But I don't actually believe... so I sorta just joked around:

That's a flyin' ranch style dorito... they're light and airy.

I asked him for more info. He finally wrote back about being on top of the Washington Mutual building after someone in his office spotted the UFO:

Around 9ish this morning downtown saw this black triangle thing, a few
off us went to the roof to check it out. Don't know how big it was 20
feet in length maybe, at least few hundred feet up , heading SE ish.

I should of took video but by the time it dawned on me to take
pictures, it was way to small for video.

What do you think?

Come on guys WTF?? Why did nobody bring some dam binoculars!!
Ok UFO. Or Nick Hang gliding on a Dorito?

Its hard to tell from the photos. The sillouette of it enlarged on my graphics program just looks like a humming bird. What do you feel it was? Did it fly directly over your head? were you able to see any detail or was it only a far away object?

maybe it's a piece of aircraft or space shuttle and some astronats are out there somewhere thinking, "OH SHIT"

Or maybe it's a piece of satellite and a bunch of Sirius owners are flooding the 800 lines with complaints.

I personally think it's the Dorito Banditos personal aircraft and N.L. is not admitting to it for whatever personal reasons he might have. I think he was scoping out a new place to eat and review and just wants to surprise us or somethin'.

Maybe just a plastic bag floating in the wind.

I wonder what made a bunch of engineers and IT guys think it was 20 ft across...

I think I was really on to something with my Dorito comment...

    its a kite. duh?!

Not sure what it is, but "black triangle" ufo's seem to be a big hit with ufologists.

    This picture looks similar:

personally I think it could be a kite but too high up and too triangular to be a piece of trash, and maybe I just have a thing for IT guys but I think they are pretty smart and would not be lame enough to mistake a piece of trash for a UFO, most of them have done their UFO research.

It was one of them damn Giselians.

I know, because it landed in my backyard, drank my beer, and then proceeded to poke and prod at my pecker area!!!

Heath, now you're sure that wasn't a Dorito crumb that fell into your whitie tighties?

Emily is way into IT guys I hear.

I'd eat that Dorito spaceship with a cold pear cider.

looks like a trash bag floating around.

i believe in UFOs, but that's a trash bag. those people were just bored.

I don't know, Lenore. I swear I can see the words "Buffalo Ranch" on that flyin' chip.

Looks like a stealth jet to me.

  13. Blogger Kindra | 10:43 AM |

It's a military plane - the black stealth or whatever it's called. Years ago when they were brand new they'd fly over my mom's area on the east side of town. We'd wonder what the hell it was since it was silent. Then we found out and it just wasn't as exciting anymore.

  14. Blogger n.l. | 10:49 AM |

OK, I will admit this: I have been seeing military cargo planes coming in from the SE in recent weeks. But a lone Stealth fighter in broad daylight? They're a lot bigger than twenty feet long/across.

Maybe McCain is helping Bush gear up to bomb Iran after all...

  15. Blogger Matildakay | 11:46 AM |

    Maybe they're testing missles again...

  16. Blogger Dobbler | 9:56 PM |

    Bomb Iran???!!!???

    Well, it's about time!

Last year we saw one of these triangle's go over the NE side of town. This one was huge, going extremely fast, and completely silent. Wed 7/18/07 approx. 5:30 pm there was a round silver object in the sky, some fighter jets from the east came in fast to take a look????
Maybe someday the Government will fill us in....ya right....we can't even get uncensored news programs...!
